Regressive milometer

Featured Replies

I've a late-58-reg Fabia 2, with the 1.4/85 petrol.

Through various health problems I've done very little mileage since new, and a couple of weeks ago noticed on the digital display, as I switched on one day, that I was just a couple of miles short of the first 2000 miles, so that when I got back from the shopping I would be showing 4 or 5 miles over that.

Imagine my surprise and puzzlement when I got back home to see, when I switched off, a mileometer reading of 1603; the total-miles-covered count had it seemed slipped back exactly 400 miles; and since then, it has carried on incrementing from that reading. I'm now curious to see what happens next time it passes the 2000-mark.

Has anybody had anything like this happen? I almost find myself wondering if this is a very late resurgence of the famous Year-2000 "Y2K" computer bug !

Thats cool, in a few years time youll have an ultra low mileage car thatll be worth more come resale

Had a Fiat Tipo that went back to zero miles at 120,000... that was nice.

I cant help you with the problem , but the Fabia's not Red and White is it? If it is , and starts playing Rock n Roll records on its stereo by its self...be very afraid....Christine has been reborn! (if youve ever seen the film you will know that the car in the films's odo goes backwards!)
