Injector reconditioning?

Featured Replies

Just passed the mot yesterday in my 02 sdi (mine since new spent a grand total of two quid in repair costs last year) but in the smoke test on the first run was 3.1 coming down to 1.3 on average ,gave the car a good blow before the test as i didnt do it last year and the average was 2.47 with 2.5 being a fail!

anyway with 130k on the clock would it be worth having the injectors reconditioning or changing or should i wait untill it fails as theres no driving issues, and also what are the costs involved

You could try a good dose of fuel cleaning additives, such as the Millers stuff. This may help things, also make sure your your air and fuel filters are clean.

As ^^ said about filters and the air ducting. 130K is nothing to these engines and it is unlikely that all injectors would die slowly in unison, usually one gives trouble whilst the others are OK.

With the figures you quote first 3.1 , mean 1.3, it seems possible that the engine wasn't hot when the first test was done. IMHO - leave it alone; it's OK.

gave the car a run to leeds before hand and left it running while waiting but i suppose it was better than last year, also gave the filter a blast with the airline at work.

must admit the car dosnt seem to smoke at all when driving and will get from leeds to St agnes (south of Newquay) on under half a tank.

my temp sender could be on its way out though as it drops to cold then back to normal afew times.
