Second Turbo gone

Featured Replies

Never buy a modern Diesel if you plan saving money.

That's a bit of a sweeping statement isn't it? :S

Not all are prone to problems and what you read here is probably atypical. For example we've had nearly 120,000 miles out of a Fabia PD 100 with no significant problems other than normal wear and tear and our Octavia also seems to be going strong.

I'd suggest that yes there are issues but not so bad as to warrant your comment. ;)

I am beginning to think it is a very big risk owning a modern turbo diesel outside of its warranty if you do any sort of high mileage. You should definitely put a fund away for some inevitable repairs. They are great to drive and with 50mpg available, with the power they are capable of producing, they are hard to ignore. If I wasn't a business user, the 1.8tsi would look very tempting.

I agree, Think of all the people who own these cars and do not post as they are fine, I have done 130K Km's with only tyres and a new EGR valve. There is a reason that 70% of all taxis here in Madrid are Skodas. Do you think cab drivers can afford bottomless pits?
