Rear bumper/towbar removal on estate

Featured Replies

I'm wanting to remove the towbar on my Octy estate, just wondered if anyone could advise me where all the fixings for the rear bumper are to aid me with removal.

On mine when I fitted my tow bar a few years ago, they were inside the rear wheel arches, and through the bodywork with access to the bolt heads via the rear light access space. I think there was around 8-10 fixings all told.

One thing to consider (without knowing which tow bar you have) is that,as with mine being a Skoda bar, the tow bar mounts in place of the rear bumper support/strengthening, so if you remove your tow bar completely you may well need to obtain the bumper support ( and no..you couldnt do without it)

It's called a reinforcement for bumper attachment and costs

Guess I'll have to take the bumper off and have a look.

Eddy... will take a look under mine.. sure we can sort something as I won't need it :D

(Failing that, if it's the same as the 2wd octavia support, I have two spare in the family as my sister's and my dad's both have towbars! :D)

That's great Ian, thanks.

I used to have my old one, but when I got the Superb it wasnt needed..so I binned it into the metal recycling at the tip.

There are only 2 bumper reinforcements listed in ETKA - the second one being for the RS. So I would guess that the 2WD Hatch and Combi share the same one.

I'll try and have a go at this at the weekend if it's dry but I now have another mod to do which will take priority. :D
