Got my hands on a pair of LED fest's for the number plate lights

Problem is.. Fitted then after 10secs or so the lights go out... Im i right in thinking its a safety mech/ trip cos the LEDS are to powerful for the car??/ visa versa... . or are they just broke..

If you put 1 in at a time.. they work fine.

But when you put the pair in.. its as if it trips

Can anyone shed some light?? (pardon the pun)

I'm not 100% sure but......

LED bulbs won't be too powerful for the car - they have mega low power draws.

I'm assuming that they activate some kind of system whereby the car sees not enough power is being drawn, and shutting them off incase something is wrong.

Thats the way i understand it anyway.

I wonder if the car has bulb current monitoring?. Because one LED only takes 20 milliamp (0.02 amps),and a normal number plate bulb of 5 watt takes 416 milliamp (0.416 amps) ,perhaps the car sees this an open circuit bulb?. It seems if you fit a LED type bulb which has 5 or 10 individual LEd's it might solve the problem?.

Probably why they don't work :giggle:
