Excessive emissions when idling

Featured Replies

Hi there, I have a 2.0 litre FSi 4x4 and when idling there seems to be much more white smoke emissions than you would think normal.

It is also noticeable when changing gear.

Do you think this is normal or what can be done about it. Idles at 800 revs

White smoke = OIL burned

Check the OIL level and take it to the dealer (just in case...)

Always thought blue smoke = oil burning off

White could be steam / condensation or head gasket if temperature guage not reading 90 degrees and losing coolant.

Pretty normal really in cold conditions. Mine does it quite a bit, but no loss of coolant at all.
