1.6 TDI CR

Featured Replies

Hi,

Quick question:

1.6 TDI CR 90bhp 109 £12,755

1.6 TDI CR 105bhp 109 £12,975

What's the difference between the 90bhp and 105bhp? There is only £220 difference and they have the same CO2 emissions. Why would you not go for the more powerful engine?

Many thanks,

Matthew.

I'm guessing the lower bhp might return a slightly better mpg around town in real world driving conditions?

Thats the theory, but in reality the lower powered unit may use more fuel because it will be harder pressed

it will all depend on the driving conditions.....

Good question and I don't know. For the sake of £220 I'd buy the hi Po model. It's like the old 1.4 TDI engine in the Fabia: why anyone bought the lo lo engne I don't know: only 10 BHP difference (70-80BHP) but the latter had considerably more torque.

...and better MPG and LOWER CO2! Go for the bigger power output...you know you want to!

Hi,

Anyone know when the 105 bhp version is going to be available in the Fabia?

Have asked Skoda and they didn't know!

Received an email today from Which Car stating they've now been announced at Geneva motor show that they are going to be available - but when in UK?

Skoda's (pants) web site still doesn't show them as options.

Don't actually know if this will be the case, but insurance on the 90bhp is likely to be noticeably lower too! So there could be some merit in buying the lower power output version for many, especially younger drivers. In practice the performance on the road between the two power outputs may not differ very much. We all just need to wait and see.

I don't think that the 1.6L 105bhp TDI engine is available on the Polo yet . I would imagine that the Polo will have a earlier priority than the Fabia.

Think it is getting the higher powered 1.6 CR TDI before the polo, also having the 1.2 TSI 85bhp before as well. Both the polo and ibiza still have the 1.4 n/a for now and think the ibiza still has the 1.6 n/a petrol as well. For once the Fabia has the newest range of engines ahead of all the VAG supermini offerings though no doubt the engines will be quickly adopted by the others once production can support it.
