Felicia jammed boot lock

Featured Replies

I've just bought an R Reg Felicia and can't get the boot open. It doesn't help that the key is a bit bent and I'm worried about breaking it. Can anyone tell me:

1) Is the key supposed to turn any more than 90 degrees?

2) Is the unlocked position of the keyhole east-west, or north-south?

3) Does the key need to be in the lock to open the boot?

The irritating thing is that I know the boot does open, because the guy I bought it from took his stuff out when I went to collect the car. Does anyone have any hints for unjamming stubborn Felicia boot locks?

No

Unlocked is side-to-side

No.

Well, I take it that it doesn't have a remote release, from inside the car?

If not, I think the striker plates are all made to take them anyway, so if you can get into the boot from the inside by dropping a rear seat down, you should be able to do it from there, there's a little lever that the cable pulls through that activates the rear lock.

Check for a handle down by the driver seat, right side. This is the remote boot release if fitted.

I found the release but it doesn't seem to do anything. I'll try going in through the rear seat, thanks for the advice.

Sometimes mine still seems locked after pulling the catch as the seal sticks to the hatch. However yours sounds as if the cable may have broken.

my boot lock is jammed too on my estate, but the key wont go all the way into the lock on mine!
