insurance renewal with mods

Featured Replies

who are the best companys for insurance with small mods ie stage 1 remap

or do most ompanies quote for this nowadays

I'd start with Adrian Flux. I have had a very good price quoted from them.

i,ve just renewed and went with the RAC, i was with More Than before but they wont insure cars with remaps and anyway the RAC were £56 cheaper.

tried Flux, got nowhere, RAC cheapest

A lot of companies will not touch cars that have been modified.....

Hello there, i would recommend aviva. I'm just about to add a diesel tuning module to my car (DPT Box) and

have just had to only pay an extra £34 to do this. Not bad as far as i'm concerned.

The three companies advertising on this site Chris knot, Adrian Flux and sky specialise in modded cars.

I have been with Chris Knott for three years, they are up for negotiation and will price match, but up for renewal again soon so will need to shop around.

Some of the mainstream insurers now offer cover for remaps and other mods - Go compare offer the option to declare mods and I had competitive quotes from various mainstream including the Post Office tho i think the excess was higher than i would have expected.

Good luck

I got a good deal by playing Chris Knott, Sky and Brentacre off against each other. Went for Brentacre in the end. They're so nice to deal with.

Ive just got a quote from Chris Knott - £381 unmodded - 34, 7 years no claims. Thinks 481 with stage 1. I'm debating if I really want to spend 400 quid on a remap and 100 per year extra for the privilege. Seems a bit steep to me considering .

Try Skoda insurance. I used them and they were cheaper than anyone else.

My insurance company need the details of the change on the headed notepaper of the garage where the work was carried out submitted to them and there's no change in the premium even... Others I asked wouldn't even quote. I'm with Allianz through a broker in Ireland. Only mod is a remap from 105 to about 145 bhp with rolling road before and after though. The guy I was talking to said it's very common (Given a number of other insurance companies had never heard of this before it sounds like these people might actually know something about cars)...
