VRS replacement in the not too distant future...

Featured Replies

Hello folks,

I was a bit bored today and I'm starting to miss my Furby as it is in for repairs (kerb vs. entire front driveshaft). Got me to thinking what am I realistically gonna replace it with in 3-5 years time. Depending on life situations of course, I toyed with an Octy VRS but I doubt I'll need a car of that size and I've always been more of a hatchback fan. The new VRS won't be cheap enough I doubt by then and I'm not sold on the Fabia II styling and I reckon it would be hard to go back to petrol after such a great torquey diesel. Focus ST's may have come down to my potential price range, but I'm put off by the fuel consumption - I'd only really like a brisk car if it was justifiably sensible and practical too. Japanese cars have never done anything for me, although I could well be missing a few gems such as the top end Mazda 3s etc and I hear good things about those Volvo C30s.

The top on my list at the moment would be a fairly high spec Audi A3, something like the 2.0 TDI S-Line, even a Quattro or S3 depending on how much they hold value in the used market.

But finally, it has given me an even greater appreciation of my little Furby as it is inevitably gonna be a hard act to follow unless my budget increases dramatically in the next few years
