Brake pad wear sensor

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if an 06 2.0 tdi ambiente has brake pad wear indicators as manual isn't terribly helpful? Thanks in advance.

Yes m8 it has got one mine been on for awhile and garage cant find the fault said its not the sensor its else where so dont know where to start on afix

It's a wire from the outside passenger side (RHD) brake pad.

Fairly useless as the inner pad wears quicker and if you have a warning light it's most likely a break in the connector somewhere.

The brake pad wear sensor can be coded out with VAG-COM or dealer tools, so as long as the garage is sure it's the brake thickness warning on and not due to low brake fluid etc then you could just ask them to code it out.

Ok thanks for the the replies - no lights on but apparently the brakes are being quite noisy and not obviously rusty. 65k on originals so thought it might be worn pads and not sure whether all Octavias had a wear sensor, however there still looks to be quite a bit of life left in the pads left so will just advise some enthusiastic braking (as its no longer getting used everyday) to see if that cures it. Thanks again though.
