Front windscreen misting up badly

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

Currently having problems with my '99 Octavia TDI.

The front windsceen is misting up very badly if the aircon isn't turned on. However there are a few things that might be related to this problem.

1: After it's been raining, I can hear water slooshing around from what appears to be the dash - from left to right or vice versa. If I turn right and the fans on, I can hear it struggling to maintain speed.

2: No hot air coming out of the top vent, though aircon seems to be fine, and I do get heat coming from he front/side vents.

Now it's possible this might be the pollen filter or rain channels blocked, but I don't know where they are in the octavia. This is where I miss there not being a haynes manual for the octavias.

Can anybody please give me a guide as to where to look uner the bonnet?

Regards,

TBXP.

Could be (a) blocked pollen filter or (B) blocked a/c evaporator drain or © both :)

Thanks matchmaker, pollen filter is quite likely as it's not been changed since 4ok and it's now at 72k. I can't see where the plenium chamber is though - is it under the main air intake where the MAF sensor's located?

Also where is the AC/Evaporator drain located please?

Regards,

TBXP

Sorted - pollen filter was the problem! V fiddly to fit, and couldn't remove the plastic cover, but was able to remove and fit filter by prising up the cover.
