Problems with central locking interior lights and windows

Featured Replies

Hi, ive had my fabia VRS since the 12th of Feb, but it has been sat on the drive until now, as i havnt had insurance for it. I think the battery may have gone flat from not being used, as i came to open the car this morning, the locks popped up but the windows wound down and the alarm went off. i couldnt over ride the alarm with the key, i had to put the key in the ignition to get it to stop. since then i cant lock the car with the button on the fob, i have to use the key in the lock itself, after doing that the windows wind down again and the courtesy door lights come on and stay on. It wouldnt start eirther, so i jumped started it and took it for a little drive and then sat with it running for 10 mins (i was running for about half an hour all together) and all seemed fine, come back to it just now and the locks are going crazy, going up and down up and down and the windows are winding themselves down again.

does anyone know what could be causeing this? should i just replace the battery?

cheers

It could be that as the system lost power that it could need resetting, turning the key in the ignition is a recognized way of turning the alarm off if you don't use the remote control. It should be in the handbook.

If the battery gets too low, the system modules can get confused. Charge battery for 24 hours then leave for 2 hours and measure battery terminal voltage. If greater than 12.5 volts battery is probably OK.

ok ive just tried charging it, charger says it s fine, its also starting up fine now, there is s till the problem with the windows winding down on their own, the courtesy lights staying on constantly, weather the car is locked or unlocked, doors open or closed, and the locks seem to be cosntantly trying to lock and unlock, but the door pins arent moving up and down, just gettting the sound of locking and unlocking. the only button working on my keyfobs is the boot release.

think im just going to have to get it on VAGcom. anyone in the sheffield area got it and would be kind enough to help me out?

Try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes.
