Only put about 1000 miles on car this year due to having works van.MY vrs ia a 05 with 42000 on clock.This am washed and went for a drive to remove rusting from brakes etc and the sound of grating did not disappear as normal even after a couple of hard braking attempts.Sound and vibration increases as turn steering wheel as if both wheel bearings are shot.Last time i drove it the car was perfect,could the noise be anything else?

100% sure its the front end,have jacked up and turned wheels by hand but no noise evident

Do they only make the noise when in motion on the ground, rather than being spun when jacked up? Speed related or all the time?
