hella headlights

Featured Replies

i have recently moved to Germany and need to have right hand drive headlights, which i have seen advertised on ebay(german). the problem is that the hella product number for the UK right sided headlight is 5J2 941 016 A, whilst the German right sided headlight is 5J1 941 016A. does the slightly different code just mean one is uk spec(left hand drive) and the other is continental spec( right hand drive) and if so are they fine to fit into my roomster.

The difference is typically just a single digit to signify markets.

General rule - the 3rd character is the application key for all VW Group parts.

"1" is LHD specific

"2" is RHD specific.

"0" is not LH/RH specific.

For headlamps be sure to note the Skoda part numbers from the existing headlamps. There are three versions of halogen headlamp according to equipment level for RHD and LHD. Just substitute the your RHD 3rd char "2" for a LHD "1" and you have the opposite hand part.

Interesting.....

Our Roomster has just failed it's first MOT because of headlight allignment which the tester suggested was due to it being a LHD headlight being fitted. This info could explain that.
