They are scratches on, want to get them out. I need to know if the lenses are plastic or glass.

What is the best method of taking the scratches out (i was thinking of using meguires Plast x (if plastic)

Thanks

They are plastic, not glass.

cant help but I was wondering about that yesterday.

Mine are very foggy (looks like loads and loads of tiny cracks)

It makes my lights very dim going to change all the bulbs may help as these units are very expencive

If you find a way of getting them clear again could you let us know?

Cheers...

The Head Lamp lense are made from PC, Polycarbonate and if you have scracthes etc then your best bet will be to get them machine polished.

As the lamps have a hard coat lacquer on you may well need to wet sand them and then machine polish them out........

By 'machine polish', do you mean the same tool and pads that a bodyshop - or detailers ;) - would use on the paintwork?

cheers

Any idea of the grade of wet and dry that should be used

Would the compound that they use to polish up the paint work after a re spray do the job (the strong stuff not normal polish) ???

Question from my side, do you have access to a DA or Rotary Polsiher?

If not then I am pretty confident you won't be able to get any marks out by hand...........

You will have more joy with a Rotary getting out deeper marks than you will using a DA but simply you can follow this process:

Sandpaper 1000-1500-2000-2500 grit then polish with 3M(FCP, Extrafina,Ultrafina) as detailed in thiss useful thread:
