130pd New Clutch problems!

Featured Replies

I’ve just had the clutch on my 130PD changed and when the car came back I couldn’t get it into reverse and all the other gears were notchy!

So it went back into the garage and had another slave cylinder and clutch kit and the slave was bled to death to get rid of all the air, which I understand is a problem with the 6 speed cars!

That was still the same after re fitment so it had a third set of parts and now ive got the car back again and it still is no better than the first time it was done!

It will go back in again in a few weeks and have another set of parts but this time OEM Skoda bit to rule out an anomaly’s!

Does anyone know of a reason why this is happening? As ive run out of ideas as well as the garage that have done the clutch

The clutch when depressed is still engaging because when you de press the pedal and slot it into gear you can see the engine move as if it’s taking up drive!

I’m really at a loss of what to do. :wall:

Also does anyone knw what the cost of a new clutch kit and concentric slave, minus the flywheel is from Skoda?

I can't think of any reason why a clutch change should cause the gearbox to block like this, as long as the linkage adjustment is correct (surely this was checked when the box went back in?) and the clutch isn't dragging. If the cylinders have been changed, and bled correctly afterwards, then the only thing I can see is the friction plate not moving correctly.

The clutch is dragging! Thats the problem but< it has been bled correctly and bled again and again

The only thing im thinking is that aftermarket parts from Eurocarpart etc just dont cut the mustard!

So im going for whole new stuff and fitting original parts from Skoda

As for the linkage! it wasnt adjusted because it wasnt changed when it was removed, plus i dont believe this is the issue as the clutch bite is only a few cms from the floor so it doesnt feel right so obviously its an issue with the clutch somewhere

It seams to be with the travel of the clutch not disenaging fully i somehow think its got something to do with the clutch plate and housing!

Changing the clutch on one of these cars is several hours work; checking the linkage adjustment is 5 minutes if it's right. See why I'd check the adjustment now?

But from what you say the clutch travel isn't right, which is either a duff part (presumes ECP clutch was a Luk or Sachs unit same as usual), or an assembly error at the garage.

Yeah the linkage is right, i understand what your saying but the clutch is always sort of touching the flywheel due to the gear engage ment so obviously its a clutch taravel issue!!

Hi Dannyboy

In terms of clutches the majority that we stock are actual OEM quality (LUK/Sachs)

If you PM Me your vehicle details, and previous invoice I can confirm you have fitted the correct kit - If you spend tripple the money and buy a Clutch kit in a Skoda box it will be the same as the LUK/SACHs product - This might not solve your problem, and just cost you alot of money!

Hope that helps
