Skoda Anti-rust Warranty

Featured Replies

Hi

Has anyone had to make a claim under the Skoda Anti rust warranty?

I just got my car on Saturday, its an 02 Octavia vRS. It has a full Skoda service history.

There's a small bit of bubbling on the drivers sill.

Going to take it to my local dealer and see what they say. Just thought I'd see if people have had claims upheld.

Try a search in this part of the forums for "boot lid rust", there were a few Octavia estates suffering from this in 2008-2009 and I think some claimed.

Let us know how you get on mate, mine is an 02 that also has the odd little bit of paint bubbling here and there, along with bubbling/rust under the boot release handle.

I have had my boot resprayed twice. The first time because of rust, mine was on a Y plate. It then had to go back in for a second respray because the first job the Skoda approved repair place did was totally rubbish. Not to mention the catalog of faults:

- Boot mounted off-center

- Washer jet pushed in

- Boot floor trim broken (due to boot being mounted in the wrong place) (took them about 2 months to get the replacement trim in to stock)

- Boot handle trim was attached off-center (lock wasn't central int he hole)

- Paint went white/clear because a piece of plastic trim was rubbing on it - this has started to happen again - f**king useless place.

Initial rust pictures at the bottom of the glass (common issue):

Then some bubbling appeared, and "clear" paint appeared after the first respray:

This got worse:

Then it got fixed:

But now, white marks are come back either side of the boot handle , will try and take some pictures. Must go and abuse the dealer/body shop again, as I think their service is pretty useless.

I thought it was only a 6 year corrosion warranty on Skodas? :S

I was going to say I thought it was 8 year? Pretty sure I just managed to "sneak" mine through.... before my "warranty" was up.

I better go and give my car a close inspection as it's nearly 8 years old. :)

Edit: only thing I can find is a tiny tiny bit of bobbling under the boot release (above the numberplate). There are no breaks in the paint though and it's so minor I don't think I'd get anywhere with it. Wondering if to register it with SUK though that I've noticed it in case it develops?

Bobbling with *no* breaks in the paint is what you need, as it is an anti-perforation warranty, so any surfaced defects in the paintwork rules out a claim, as they are then said to be caused by stone chips, etc. Or that is how I understood it.

Stone chips on the tailgate? :wonder: Can't see how they could justify that one anyway!

I might give the dealership a ring in a few weeks once I've shifted this uni dissertation.

High speed reserving down a motorway maybe?!

I popped down (or up, in my case to Yeovil at the time as they were the closest) and their body shop manager came out and took a few pictures of the car, which then got submitted to Skoda for a warranty claim.

As I then *unwisely* opted to have the work done by Loders Accident Repair (LAR) in Dorchester (as they were closer), I then returned there whent the first rebubbling appeared. They did not care in the slightest and just said my warranty was out and told me to f-off in no uncertain terms. As you can I guess I was somewhat narked by that. I spoke to Skoda Customer services who jusr sent me back to LAR, who just ignored me. So I went back to Yeovil and complain about the quality of work - lets face it, if I had paid several hundred quid to have this fixed out of my own pocket I would expect the repair to last longer than a 10-ish months. The chap from Yoevil then got it sorted out, and the car went back for Dorchester for a second respray, which is where we are today.....

Have some bubbling around the number plate light on my 2010 estate but I am the second owner would I still be covered?

Should be? 2010!

Paintwork warranty is for the car (assuming the boot hasn't already been resprayed, etc), not the owner per say. So get down the dealer and get them to raise a warranty job. They will probably have to take photos and email them off to Skoda UK before they can book the car in for any remedial work.

2010 estate with a 2.0litre TDi, yours must be a mk2?

Thanks for that will get down there asap and yes it's the face lift one only had it a short time and love it cracking car.

Thread resurrection! I'm sure there are threads on this in the mk2 section. The handbook should say how long the anti-corrosion warranty is - I think it might be 12 years and I don't think it's restricted to the first owner, however any panels that have been re-sprayed will be excluded.
