Lowering The 4x4 Octavia

Featured Replies

I'm just about to start modding the 4x4 & one of the first things is to lower it to RS level + fit KW Variant 2 suspension.

This is just a post to ask those who have already gone down this route how low did they go & to ask for any thoughts or advice they may have.

Also did lowering have any effect on the geometry, I have been told by one person that lowering the car may neccesitate changing the wishbones

I don't think you need to change the wishbones, but there are a couple of bars which are reversible depending on height or lack thereof.

I'd PM Dutch4x4, who has a RS height 4x4 hatch, if I were you.

PS nice holiday?

Jon: Stuart's done that, and knows all about the route I went. For him (but correct me if I'm wrong here, Stuart) it was too much for too little.

It's a semi-custom job for just the springs, and it's not even RS height to where I got it, but slightly higher. I would have done the KW V2 thing (or something similar) too, but it was too pricey for the company. The lowering just fitted into the budget.

However, if you're talking value for money, the KW option wins my prize. So if I were Stuart, and money is no object, I'd go the full suspension route.

Jon, yep great break thanks

Dutch, "Money no object" I wish it was, I think you must have been telling our Inland Revenue I have too much money judging by the amount they have just decided they want from me. At the moment it feels like time to sell the Skoda & buy a push bike, still I guess sanity will prevail & the good old flexible friend will take a pasting
