Interior Lights Stopped Wroking

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Strange One,

I have a Facelift Octavia VRS [month old!], on Sunday the Interior Lights stopped working,

I just assumed it was a fuse, look in the manual, found one for 'Interior Lighting' found it and it still seems OK,

I also had a pick through the fuses to see if it was somewhere else but couldn't find one that appeared to be blown.

Is there any additional fuses, other connections that could be causing it, or am I going to have to go to a dealer?

[small Business Owner, Sometimes hard to get out of the office!!]

Thanks!

Jim

Stupid question but no chance that anyone has just flicked the switch to off. Sometimes it's the simple thing that can catch you out. My missus did it on mine when she wanted the light on full for make up and switched it back over to off, rather than door activated.

Is the rear interior light and boot light / glove box affected as well? If these are on the same circuit (I imagine they are) it'll help determine whether its a switch, fuse or power issue.

I've sometimes had the switch not being in the correct position (even although it feels like it is), so would try giving it a wiggle. Might be worth checking the condition of the bulbs as well.

Was first thought that someone had flicked it off, but alas no.. It seems to be a particular circuit...

Its affecting Front Interior light cluster (main / map lights etc just don't work) same for the one in the back, same for the one in the glovebox and in the boot. Also the line of buttons on the dash 'ESP off' etc isn't lit at all at night now, same for the light switch (for side lights etc), not lit, and same for the lock button near the gear nob, when the car isn't locked (still get the yellow locked light)

However, climate, dash ,stereo, door puddle lights, window switches, even the auto gear box selector are still lit.

As I said , checked the obvious fuse and a few others, and just got nowhere!

Cool be a dealer one thinking about it, need to double check myself again tomorrow me thinks......

hmm!

Did you figure out what was wrong, i have this problem now since installing a parrot bluetooth the other day, probably knocked something off behind the glovebox when i was doing it

Hi dallan,

Yeah got to the bottom of it eventually, it was a blown fuse, but on a different circuit than I expected.

But the issue actually turned out to be one of the switches was faulty in the light unit, and it was blowing the fuse.

What circuit did you get the power from for the parrot? If its the glovebox light or something like that and the fuse wasn't removed for that circuit during install then there is a good chance that its blown.

I ended up just going through EVERY fuse till I found a 5amp (in the first row of the small fuses) in the interior fusebox, then obviously out of that discovered my issue!

Thanks for that, i will check them later, i ran a wire to the fusebox but i think i connected it to a switched feed for towing electrics (has a picture of a hitch anyway) but i will check the others and see, maybe when i was trying to find a switched live i may have blown one of the others

Update: had a look earlier, found a 7.5A fuse was blown not even marked on the fuse map inside the cover :whew:
