What are the little bulbs at the top of the headlights for?

I can see: Dipped Projector lights, Main Beam Bulbs, Indicator bulbs and then these other ones at the very top of the unit.

I'm guessing that they are the sidelights if DRL's are disabled.

Is it possible to have them both on? would they look a bit rubbidh?

I might try and disable DRL's temporarily to see if they are indeed sidelights.

They are the sidelights for the non vRS models. As far as I can tell, even though the bulbs are fitted, there is no way of activating them on the vRS. I did try turning the DRLs off on mine using the maxidot setup menu, and then turned the sidelights on, but the LEDs just came on as normal

According to my garage they are a failsafe in the event that the drl's fail but cannot be used otherwise.

If I turn on my parking lights the DRL go off. I can drive around like that if I really wanted to. I keep them for parking duty , usually just switch one side on via the indicator stalk.
