Bumpers

Featured Replies

Basically whe i bought my octy i got it cheap, mainly due to mileage and the fornt bumper is damaged and paint peeling, now i like my car to look good and i need to get hold of a new front bumper in silver!

Any reccomendations, i search ebay, nothing! scrappy don't have them for the estate.

Should i buy a genuine one primed and get it sprayed?will this cost much?

thanks for your help!

James.

been looking on there, but i sem to remember the hatch front bumpers are different to theestate ones, or am i wrong?

Pretty sure the front bumpers are the same between hatch and estate, but I don't have a copy of ETKA to confirm that.

Infact checking on vagcat.com (http://www.vagcat.com/epc/cat/sk/OCT/2001/252/56/4445626/) there is no a difference between hatch/estate, just if you have a vRS, or washer jets:

1 1U0807221K

cover for bumper

(1) 1U0807221L

cover for bumper / for headlight washer system

(1) 1U0807221G

cover for bumper

vRS

(1) 1U0807221H

cover for bumper / for headlight washer system

vRS

Bumpers are surprisingly cheap from the dealer, but then you have to get it properly painted which will cost more than the bumper did.

I had mine repaired and now it looks as new. All the massive scratches on the underside were filled with some plastic jazz, and then the whole thing was resprayed. Minty.

How much did that cost if you don't mind me asking Bodge?

I mean to get mine done at some point, 125k has left it looking like someone fired a load of buckshot at it...

cheers guys yeah its hard to find any with washerjets, is it a simple fact of drilling a hole in the new one to fit the washer jets? anyone reccomend a good place to get one sprayedin west sussex or surrounding area?

(no chance of mine getting repaired its bend slightly and has a large dent in the side of it!)
