Let's be fair. Not all are hacks. The ones that claim to work with versions 311 or 409 are perfectly legal.

I cannot speak to the quality of these. Some are good. Some really are poor. Buyer - beware.

In the UK, one of our distribus, Gendan sells a low end wire for 311/409 software. The quality of their product has been reported as pretty good. You might take a look at their low end wire.
