Featured Replies

please help, advice needed

i have been looking for a new vrs, i currenlty own a 57 plate vrs

unfortunaly all the monthly payments have been a bit more then i can comfortabky afford ...BUT ... i have come across a un-reg 60 miles Pre FL vrs with even old style dash board (ie same as mine and not the same as new style FL dash) for £15000

would i be daft to consider this vehicle if the price is right

Well it is down to you if you want to buy a new car.

I would say that since you admit that you are finding it hard to meet your monthly payment, then you shouldn't consider adding more debt.

As for the un-reg VRS for £15k is not much cheaper than a new order with Drive the deal

thanks for reply

i did try drive the deal as a few people said they were quite helpfull, but must of rang on a bad day

i got a really good quote then mentioned i had a px and they said they dont do px ...... i asked for the dealers name and got told they cant give me there details ......

I bought a pre FL 59 plate VRS from Motorpoint last year for similar money because I couldn't get anywhere near the price / spec with DDD or main dealers and like yourself, found DDD considerably less than helpful and they simply refused to answer what were basic questions, so much so that I actually got a bad feeling about them and walked away. Motorpoint are a sausage factory style trader but at least what you see is what you get etc and there isn't any buggering about.

Even at this late stage a pre FL 10' plate is still a good car at a fair price IMHO and personally I prefer the styling which was another contributing factor.

If you like it then go for it. If its Motorpoint I suggest you spend £40 getting your car valeted professionally and stick it in Auto Trader - you'l get a much better price privately unless its a complete dog. Motorpoint offer insulting trade in pricing IMHO - well below book so bear this in mind.

hello, its not just me then that had bad feelings from DDD, i had been told they were helpfull but they didnt come accross as that

the car im looking at is actually at a skoda dealership, quite well specs, sat nac , zenons, but looking at the picture not got climate pack and only has 17" alloys, wheich ive heard aint a bad thing as drives better on 17 then 18, like i said was just a bit concerned if it was a good idea ....

Got to ask what it's been doing for the past couple of years - sat in a field?

If so, may signal potential issues with brake discs, etc.

If it has 17" wheels and no climate / jumbo box and rear electric windows, then that would suggest that it is either an import (Irish possibly) or is actually a very early 2007 car as 18" and climate, etc, became standard (or a standard free upgrade) from that point on.

I'd like to know why it's done nothing for 3 years. Even with a warranty, there's no guarantee that they'd pay up replacement discs, etc.

Just on the point of DtD, we've just bought a Yeti through them and had no problem at all. I would have used them again for my vRS, but I got a deal from a localish dealer that was only a couple of quid more but does means I don't have to go to London to pick up the car.

Is this the car in question?

Personally, I wouldnt consider a pre FL at 15K, for not a lot more you can get a new shape. Save for a few months and get the new 1 ;)

DtD don't do PX and make it clear on their website. They don't give out the name of the dealer either as then you could just go behind their back and get the deal losing their commission. When you buy from DtD you also have to sign a declaration saying you will not disclose the dealer. FWIW the current dealer is Marlborough Skoda, but don't expect a fantastic trade in if you go asking them to match the DtD price.

If that is the car then it's a 2006 as it has the green brake calipers. Also there is no radio fitted which makes me wonder if it was ordered for a police force. Either way, it's looking less like a bargain, by the minute!

If that car does have sat nav (and the pictures suggest it doesn't) it's only £1500 less than a brand new one (through DtD) - I know where my money would go!

its just sometimes people have left in fo on this forum saying that they had been put on to dealers after contacting DtD

as like everyone i want the best deal but have a px, but the garages i have spoken to will either just do VAT free and a resonable PX or do a better deal but a crap px

My dealer did a decent p/x, but price was £1000 over DtD price.

However, if I'd gone to another dealer, probably could have got the DtD price but had 1K less p/x

So basically I would have had to pay £10K either way. At least I wasn't facing the prospect of trying to find £13K for the full 20K RRP for a vRS...

think i may leave that alone then

I see from your new thread that you're going for a new vRS. Good decision.

I'd love to know where this car has been for the last four years. Something not right here.
