iPOD/iPhone interface to MFD DX2

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I have recently bought a 2006 Superb with the SatNav DX2 unit. It also has Parrot CK3100 fitted. I wanted to interface my iPhone through the DX2 unit and was hoping that I would be able to see all of the MP3 text (songs, artist, etc.).

So far from what I am seeing on various VAG forums and the three main providers of ready made interfaces (Connect2, XCarLink and Dension), it seems that the interfaces will only attach iPods to the DX2 but no MP3 text would be available, but that at least one of these interfaces will allow CD Changer functionality.

Other owners appear to be using a simple AUX connection?

Could somebody please help me to confirm:

1) It is not possible to see MP3 text on the DX2 screen or multidot display!

2) The AUX connection would only provide audio through the DX2 unit!

3) Which "professional" interface will provide CD Changer functionality (steering wheel control or otherwise)?

What installations have owners made to usefully use iPod functionality with the DX2?

Any help would be gratefully received. There are many topics on the general subject and lots of acronyms used.....but would really like to understand this subject and hopefully summarise for other owners with DX2 SatNav units.

Thanks in advance

Phil

The following based on the hope that the DX2 is similar to the MFD2, so hope it helps.

With a simple Aux in, you will not get any display (without any expensive interface that will only allow composite video in) or control.

If the dx2 is a similar beast to the MFD2, I think the Dension gateway 300 CAN might be best suited to you, I have the 300 non-CAN which has USB/Aux/Ipod connections and CD Changer retention but no display, AFAIK the 300 CAN allows track display on the maxidot, and 'possibly' the main display. The best guy to ask is shark_90, he should be able to help a bit more.

The units have been hit and miss for some folks though!
