Advice Needed On Removing Sun Cream

Featured Replies

Hi,

Last summer when it was actually hot for a week lol we went to the beach, applied sun cream as usual but someone lent on the car, now the rear quarter has sun cream on it, its faded the rear quater and I just can't get it off, WD40 seemed to make a difference but only to I washed it again, when the dulling came back. Does anyone have any tips on how to remove the suncream permanently.

Cheers

Jon

Interesting this as I don't think I have ever heard of such a thing happening, however WD40 is not going to help............. :o

Have you tried applying any polish that you may have in the garage?

Hi,

Thanks for replying, I haven't tried anything yet, I wasn't sure if polish would do anything, I wash my car at a jet wash every now and again and thats about all I know about washing the car :) But due to maybe selling it soon, I really need to get this suncream off. I thought polish would just add a layer over the cream and it would be forever on the car :)

What type of polish if any would you suggest?

Cheers

I think you may be confusing a polish with a wax..............basicaly the polish will have some micro abrasives in it which will remove some of the defects or contamination in the paintwork, wax will merely cover the paintwork and act as a sealant........

Do you have any polish for cars in the garage? If not then best bet is to take a trip to Halfords and buy something like AG SRP (Autoglym Super Resin Polish) as this is readily available...........

My local Halfrods had some going cheep . maybe same around the uk?

Cant remeber price tho

Yes, I was confusing polish and wax, has been a long time since I done anything other than jetwashing the car lol :) Thanks for the info, I will go and have a look in halfords and when it dries up I will get to work with the polish :)

Mr Mul, I am going to Halfords later, hopefully they will have some cheap there too :)

Out of interest is the AG SRP (Autoglym Super Resin Polish) suitable for black cars? Well I think mine is metallic black, though not 100% sure on that, its hard to tell lol

Some waxes can be colour specific or at least have better results on some colours rather than others but polishes generally work on any colour...........:)
