Cat heatshield

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if the heatshield for the CAT is removable on the VRS or is it part of the CAT? I noticed the car was making a "heatshield-touching-exhaust" type noise last night so had a look underneath and it looks like the front of the CAT heatshield has taken a battering from a stone or speedbump or something and is touching the exhaust. It will be much easier to bend it back to shape if I can just drop the heatshield off the CAT

smash it off its only held on with a couple of spot welds

I want to put it back afterwards - without welding it!

Guess I'll just bend it back into shape on the CAT.

on the 4x4 it was held on with nuts? they do rust pretty bad though, 2 fell off causing mine to rattle so just removed the rest, took the plate off and no more rattle :D

Same here. Mine's gone.

Yep mine has gone too!

Mine held on with clinch nuts on front and studs at rear, rear studs broke during the snow so removed till better weather then replace. :smirk:

I've got this issue.

Did anyone come up with a solid solution for solving this, beyond taking it off? It has been suggested to me that I create a wire clip that hooks into the holes and over the mount on the cat, but I'm not sure if that'd solve the rattle.
