Big turbo kit - which one?

Featured Replies

What sort of price where Garret quoting ?

My concern about a GT28 71R - 60-5RS hybrid, or infact a hybrid HX30 would be about the housing - its larger volume - therefore would not more pressure be required to spool it up (i.e. higher boost threshold) ? ...

cant remember something like 600ish plus any duty or import if applicable, iirc the housing (parts) needs changing.

am assuming gsr modify their housings or replace accordingly for their hybrids?!

Bodge

That is a MONSTER...Skoda interior on a VW that's a bit weird!!!

If you change the internals and the housing, ain't much left of the original turbo really :giggle:

turbine housing

and the value of your parts against the 60rs parts that garrett give you

Recon you'd need to make sure it was a compressor housing from GT2860-5RS (as opposed to the GT2860-1RS)

with an A/R of 60, eg here (polished suit you sir ?)

You sure about the turbine housing though ? Thought maybe it had been redesigned too ....

Am no expert in this field, but from what i remember from my conversation with garrett in the us, was that i sen them my chra, they exchange it for a 60rs one, then i buy new compressor housing to mate to my existing turbine housing, renew required bits, no they said i could keep that from what i remember, on the link i posted it seems the same part for the 60rs as the 71r.

Out of interest, do you know the old A/R value of that blow GT2871R ?

Same question goes to andyrew too  - do you know what A/R value you had ?

no will have to have a look at the turbo, look like .86 - .63 is possible.
