If I take the plunge, what is the best route to take ?

Eibachs with standard shocks, approx £150 + fitting, or coilovers anywhere from £320 + fitting ?

Also, has anyone any experience of Vmaxx coilovers, as they can be got for £326 delivered from Germany on a well-known auction site - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300403707992

Good grief. Finally. B)

The AP ones for 439 are spot on in my opinion. Really happy with the ride quality and handles really nicely. I've got them fairly low so it looks quite nice and it still (just) straddles the speed pillows on my road fine.

check out raceland units via tuning leader on ebay - you will be amazed at price/quality- cheaper than europarts for rep shocks!

Any more views ?

the APs are good, i wander whop has a set of them for sale then :smirk:

Eibach's aren't low!

Get coilovers you gaylord!

harry_vRS had eibach/FSD's on his car before going for the AP coilovers and reckons the AP's are leagues ahead.

I'm very pleased with my SPAX RSX coilovers.28 point adjustable shocks, too.

If you had said you could have tried my car last night on koni/eibachs , i'm happy with mine , works well and ride comfort is really good , coilovers are a bit of an overkill for me tbh.

Weitec coilovers are always a good option.

I don't see what Weitec give you over the APs. Made by the same company, but only one year warranty instead of the 2 you get with the APs.

Probably better dampers.

As mentioned the internals are better and the build quality is also better. You get 2 years warranty with both though.

My tuppenceworth;

Depends what you're after really. Sorry if this is teaching anybody to suck eggs btw.......emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

Spings on standard dampers - cheap and will suffice as an upgrade for most people. Lowers the car a bit and as long as they are progressive, sorts out the body roll a tad. Beware of reduced travel though. Can give standard shocks a bit of a tough time. Not sure about the Skud but might be worth some modified bump stops.

Spings on uprated dampers - better but it should be as its costs more. Generally the dampers have shorter stoke to match the shorter spings. Damping should be much better than stock.

Coilovers - best especially if you rag it on track every now and then but beware the potential additonal maintenance - you need to keep em clean and lubed otherwise they can sieze. Personally for a daily driver I don't think its the best option unless you want the adjustability IMHO. Others may well disagree.....emoticon-0105-wink.gif

With all of the above as with any suspension upgrade, worth having a proper alignment done afterwards. Oh and remember that this is very much a notifiable mod for insurance. Don't risk not telling them. Having had experience of loss adjusters, trust me they are far from stupid and can spot things like uprated suspension from a mile off.
