Electric Window Disaster

Featured Replies

Went out this morning to find all windows down, and car filled with water (after thunderstorm).

We have a brand new (March 1) Octavia.

Called Skoda Parkview, Reading, to find out that there is now a facility on the key to drop all

four windows by holding down the unlock for 5 secs or so. We did not knowingly do that, so one

of our keys must have been jammed in a pocket or a handbag. This facility is not mentioned

in the handbook.

Does anyone know how to disable this "feature"?

Do you have maxidot?

I'm on my 4th Octavia over a 10 year period and they've all had this (sometimes useful) feature and we'ver never once accidentally used it.

Perhaps now you're aware of it, it's less likely to happen?

It mentions it on page 54 of your owners manual.

If you don't have the maxidot trip computer then you cannot turn this feature off yourself. You will need to go see someone with VAGCOM or your Skoda dealer to have this feature disabled.

I never knew this happened ,

but I always keep keys somewhere safe anyways but thats good to know I often walk with them in my pocket if out shopping or something!

Many thanks to you all for replying so quickly, and you have helped stop me making a fool of myself by berating the dealer .

I have looked a page 54 and, sure enough, it is there (but not very prominently).

I don't have maxidot, though I wish I had known about it when I bought the car.

I will ask the dealer if he can disable the feature.

Thanks again to you all.

Mine did this for the first time last week...luckily it knocked the child sun-screen off its suction pads and into the car which set the alarm off ;) now deactivated in maxidot!

For those interested in this issue, our dealer (Parkview Skoda, Reading) have deactivated the "drop all windows" feature on the remote.

Very impressed with the service people, and we are much relieved .

We had to ask the service folks because our car does not have maxidot.

I assume the Parkview salesman who sold you the car didn't advise you of the useful features of maxidot, an option you could have had for a mere £130.

Can you also close the windows from the remote?

06 VRS no maxidot

I had this happen to me on a few occasions - i keep my keys in my jeans pocket and I think if you bend over it can easily press the button. Fortunately for me, the times it happened it didn't rain and also no body tried to nick anything from the car. After 2 years of the car, I finally got it deactivated by VAGCOM by my local independant garage when they did my cambelt. A lot better now!

I believe so. You can on my FL vRS anyway by keeping the lock button pressed down when locking the car

Yes you can open and close form the keys on my 07 VRS
