Can The Yeti Transport A Big Dog

Featured Replies

Hi,

I was wndering if the Yeti is capable of transporting one big dog in the back for journeys of 2 -3 hours, with the seats in their normal position & standard dog guard fitted.

Mt dog is a 9 1/2 stone Bernese Mountain dog.

Any dog owners out there who can advise?

Thanks,

Mike

My Goldern Retriver bitch is fine.

Ray - thats a very enigmatic reply!

Have you by any chance got the actual dimensions of the boot floow with seats UP.

thanks,

Mike

My Cockapoo fits in just nice !

If you're transporting 9.5 stone around, I'd recommend for safety that you "do up" the seatbelts in the rear if nobody is sat in the seats.

Some people use these as boot liners, and they are a good fit. It should give you some idea!

Thanks - Cockapoo - thats a rare breed!

:-)

She's great - no dog hairs in the car. Still have them stuck in the carpet in the other car from ferrying around a beagle a couple of years ago.

Mike,

A dog that size may be a little 'snug'. Load space dimensions

1.12m head room (with spare wheel option), 0.8m width & 0.65m depth giving 1,580 litres of space

On the positive side there is a bespoke trunk grille/dog guard for the Yeti - part number DMM 630 001.

Hope this is of some help.

1580 litres of space with the seats in normal position - don't think so !

more like 400 ?

Sorry, my mistake, I mis-read the brochure should have been 416 .. .. ..

I went to a Skoda showrom to check the Yeti's boot was big enough for our 2 huskies. Although the boot is not the colossal size of my present people carrier it looks adequate to take them both plus some lugagge. Combined weight of both dogs is 73kg.

Well I hope so...I've got a BIG male Weimaraner who came with me on the Yeti test drive before I ordered...He seemed to fit OK in the back but I do spoil him a little and keep thinking he could do with a bit more room to stretch out a bit (he's currently being carted around in the back of a very spacious van!).

Thanks for all the replies, test drive today and tomorrow so I will find out if my pooch can fit in.

The dealer will just LOVE the hair in the boot

My dog actuall looks a bit like a Yeti. ;)

If the dealer has the optional boot line all will be fine.

Mike

Good luck with your dealer. mine wouldn't let me put my 2 labs in to see if they would fit ( I think the molting yellow one put him off). Comparing the boot to a Picasso I used to drive the boot will be a fit for my 2 who weigh in at 56 kg between them, without any seat adjustment. I hope yours can manage the sill height or your back might be tested. Despite this only one problem for my 2 old girls I've had a Yeti 140 elegance in Silver on order for 5 weeks now and based on everyones posotive feedback it can't come soon enough. Keep us posted on the fit!

Regards.

I will wrap my dog in a towel / sheets or a romper suit to make sure he caused no damage. His is 35 KG. And he can jump into my wife's shogun from sitting - so I think it will be OK.

What type of dog guard do you have fitted?

thanks,

Mike

How could any dealer refuse a request from that dog? Handsome

I have the octavia estate I carried a Newfoundland round in it for 3 years she was 60kg no problems there, I plan on buying a Yeti with the thought of getting another Newfie. Let us know how you get on.

Hoover not needed, dog would not fit in boot comfortably. Game over sadly.

Hmmm. You're making me rather nervous about my yeti/dog combo now...My weimaraner is at least 38kg and only a year old...I tried him in the boot of the yeti 2.5 months ago and he seemed to fit ok back then...

There is a HUGE difference between a Berner Sennen and a Weimeraner.

It's just Mike said his dog was 35kg but mine is 38kg!!

Yeah, but.....the 8 kg is fur :giggle: (Not on theWeimeraner.)

A small hotel I use in the south of Germany has a Berner Sennen, that occupies the lobby - and just about anywhere else he wants. Hell of a walk to get around him. He likes to lie somewhere and stick a paw out. People trip over that paw all the time and fall on him - but he never moves or reacts at all. Most docile dog I have ever encountered.
