I Need To Put A Stop To This!

Featured Replies

Ok my car shortly should be having a remap (june time) And while my suspension has been uprated...a bit. Ive never been a big fan of the brakes, altho they are resonable and have saved my life many a time. Is there any other uprated brake options. Just brakes to me are MASSIVE deal. Is it a case of replacment brakes from a higher end vag like a audi tt or a octavia vrs. Am just looking at changing the front ones, and the back ones are drums and they seem to do the job. Plus they dont dirty the wheels as much :giggle:

Thanks for anyhelp

What a great a reply......

And i do abide to speed limits, higher speeds are for the race tracks, but that dont stop barry the blind in his 200 year old rover pulling out on you does it....pahhh emoticon-0149-no.gif

A brake upgrade will not be a cheap option on the car you have :(

"when" you learn to drive..you will find you use the brakes less BECAUSE you have anticipated what the bleary eyed old t**sser in the rover is going to do.

as for the track..if your on the brakes your slowing down. try a track day tution. I think they can show you which way round your cap goes too.

sorry if this offends , but your why car insurance is soo expensive.

Looks like briskoda has a resident TROLL! And wonderful sterotype to because am not over 35+ years old. His young he must be a useless driver. And ive done my test more recently than you so am sure am more up to date on the old highway code, and because ive been tested more recently, we could pick that up and say am in a better motion to drive my car.

But you dont know me! you dont know how I drive, or anything! If someone who takes the precaution of fitting a better brake system to there car for ALL situation's *(clumsy tw**s, black ice, hateful angry drivers like yourself etc....)* that puts me in as a boy racer and a careless driver, you should do yourself a favour look in the mirror and take the chip off your shoulder, and leave your hateful comments to yourself for young people like me its incredible offensive.

And in my short driving life (coming on 4 years) its often middle age men in rep wagons riding my rear!

sorry if this offends but you are a clueless idiot,of course you need good brakes that won't fade on track, and any race instructor will tell you the same, all tracks are hard on brakes.

now to reply to the op the fabia is heavy and under braked from standard and to get the best out of it certainly requires some bigger brakes, and you are in luck, what you need is a set of 312mm calipers and carriers off an audi tt,mk1 octy vrs,mk4 golf 180,audis3 and some others i can't remember, and a set of 312mm oem discs off one of the same cars,i personally like to use ferrodo ds2500 pads and super dot 4 race fluid too,the callipers and carriers can regularly be found on ebay for 200 quid ish,a set of new oem 2312mm discs are roughly 100 quid and budget the same for the ferrodo pads, fluid can be got from anywhere really and then its a simple task of fitting them, there is a guide on here to show correct proceedure too, this upgrade is all the brakes you will ever need, didn't fade once on several 9 minute laps of the ring in my fabia.

oops sorry didn't realise i was in the fabia 2 section, ignore the above, contact ben at shark performance, hes a bit of a brake guru ;)

Is this a joke? 1.4TDI with race spec fluid and ds2500? :giggle:

I run a remapped 1.9tdi with a fair few mods. The brakes are ok, although the pedal feel is not great.

If you must 'upgrade' then swap your pads - but not DS2500 - they are NOT ROAD LEGAL (don't meet EU Reg. 90 spec.).

Racing fluid is a complete waste of money on any 1.4tdi. Stick with the standard stuff.

i mistakenly thought this was a mk1 vrs in the mk 1 forum, see what happens when i stray out of the mk1 fabia forum :D

i find the brakes to be adequate, except for the dust they coat the wheels in seems exccessive! i do have discs all round, though.

ps, thought i logged onto cruffs, wiyh all that bitchiness!!

Crikey all i wanted to know, was if i could fit better brakes, ive already complemented the standard ones espically in the icy weather we have have!

Ignore this thread now!!

Brembo are really good stoppers. The defacto really when it comes to performance brakes. Not cheap but they produce a full aftermarket upgrade. I trust you brakes are worn in? It took our Fabia around 700 miles to fully bed in to their best performance. Just thought I'd mention if your car is new.

Good or Bad brakes don't really help in Black Ice. If you hit it there's not a lot you can do about it. :'(

If you have trouble with dust, try pads from EBC, these are said to produce less dust than normal pads.
