Hi everyone.

Just sold my old golf today and should pick up my Skoda on Thursday

Golf was a year 2000 Mk4 2.8 4Motion (3 door in black). Had it for 4 years and really loved it, especially the V6 and the 4 wheel drive. 10 years old now, so sadly parted company with it this afternoon for £3400 :-

The replacement is a petrol 2006 Octavia VRS hatchback in Racing Blue.

Also we have a Seat Leon Cupra Mk2 (stunningly fast) and a 1996 Audi Coupe 2.6 V6 (I love this car and just can't bear the thought of parting with it for the little it's worth).

So all in all the Octavia will be my first ever Skoda and completes my journey around the VAG Group.

Must say that the Octavia was favourable on the test drive, similar performance to the Golf, but obviously more economical and it was quieter at speed in terms of both wind and tyre noise. Not as quick as the Cupra, but the VRS impressed with the lack of turbo lag compared to the Cupra and the civility of it's road manners, certainly a better ride quality.

Whilst the 4 cylinder cars are much more economical on fuel, they can't match the sound and smoothness of either of the V6 engines I've been running.

Anyway, looking forward to the Octavia as I think it will be a better all round vehicle than any of the others, certainly in terms of practicality.

Looking forward to reading all your comments.
