Damp seatbelt

Featured Replies

if it rains really heavy, sometimes my seat belt feels damp, ive never had any 'door carrier' issues from the drivers door, but the drivers rear did used to leak but ive since sealed it

i can feel the dampness on the belt once its pulled across me and clicked into place, which id suggest is a section of belt which is usually sat in the vertical position behind the trim, and not a section coming off the reel sat at the bottom

ive had a a look at my door seals and they all look fine, i cant figure out how water would get in and be able to make that section of the belt damp

water couldnt come in from the outer roof strips could it ?.......where roof bars go

any ideas ?

anyone ?

anyone ?

I have the same thing on my octavia, where if I pull the belt out, it feels damp or maybe very cold. I have no idea what causes it so would be interested to hear like yourself.

Same on my B5 Passat - I think that it causes the belt to be lazy when retracting as my damp section seems to be on the reel when the belt is fully retracted - I only find it if I pull the belt out fully!

I thought mine was damp today but i put it down to being colder & the fact that because it was a nicer day i only had my shirt on, so felt the coldness more than usual..

If you think about it, It is not going to be that warm tucked away down there especially when it's only around 9 degs outside :D

sometimes yea it is just the cold, but im convinced a couple of times that its actually been damp

I think the only way you are going to find out is by removing the trim and getting in behind it to have a root around. I dont know how it comes off mind you , but I assume it is removeable.

ive had the n/s off to change the seatbelt, its a pain in the arse to put back together as everything has to go back in a certain order

Aye I kind of thought that would be the case.

yup i think id rather live with it feeling damp a handful of times per year than take all that trim off again
