McRae Pulls the plug on Skoda WRC

Featured Replies

Copied from BBc news,

"Colin McRae has rejected the chance to race in the World Rally Championship with Skoda because the car is not competitive, his agent told BBC Sport.

McRae tested for Skoda, but decided against a return to the WRC.

"What was on offer did not really match up with Colin's aspirations," said McRae's agent Campbell Roy.

"If he was to return then he'd want a car that was up there challenging for the podium and there were a few issues in that respect."

That's a real shame, as he would really have raised the profile of the car

Increased the profile, but shortened the overall length of the car ;) Plus, they'd have to find a co-driver he got on with.........

Chris

McRae = Nancy boy :rofl:

I'n not sure he is in the position to be fussy

badge snobbery again?

It's an interesting question, isn't it. Kind of a Catch-22, or maybe not.

If Skoda had better drivers would their car get more competitive?

Do drivers actually contribute much to the development of the cars in WRC?

If the car was more competitive, would VAG put more money into it?

If the car starts to drop even further down the rankings, will VAG pull out?

So much depends on money ...

This may seem a bit negative but I don't see no C Mc as a bad thing, I'd rather Skoda grew for other reasons than just because he was driving for them.

Secret squirrel stuff ;)
