Help - light scratching

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I have some light scratches on the drivers door of my 3 month old Octy. They were caused by a dog jumping up at the door. I've not washed it yet to have a really good look, but they don't look too bad and I'm hoping I can polish them out. They just appear to be light surface scratches on the surface of the lacquer layer and I can't even feel them with my finger nail.

Please, can anyone recommend some products to try? I'm guessing/hoping I stand a good chance of removing these by hand with some elbow grease and the right products/advice but I really don't know where to start. and don't want to make the situation worse.

Thanks.

Meguires scratchX (version 2) that you can get from Halfords used in conjunction with a microfibre cloth should do the job for you.

Thanks

Halfords currently have a 3 for 2 offer on so I picked up some AutoGlym SRP too after researching a little more here, so I can try both

Well I've tried T-Cut, Meg's Scratch X 2.0 & Megs Ultimate compound and I have to say Meg's UC was by far the best (IMHO).

ScratchX 2.0 is an excellent product.

ScratchX 2.0 did the job with about 4-5 goes and 30mins elbow grease. The scratches are now almost gone completely. I can still just about see where they are in the right light, but you'd never find them if you didn't know they were there.

Thanks everyone for the advice - much appreciated

Good job..

Now tie the dog up!! ;)
