Normal oil consumption for petrol vRS

Featured Replies

I've done just over 750 miles in my FL vRS TSI now. Being wary of previous posts of it being a bit oil thirsty while it's running in, and based on experience with previous new cars, I've been careful to keep an eye on the oil level. So I'm quite surprised not to have needed to top it up - it's still (slightly over) max.

How have everyone else's experiences been? Have I been lucky?

2k on mine now and still not need for top up.

5k on mine (new mid-feb) oil showing mid-way between min and max.

This is in-line with my experiences with my previous golf gti (mk5) which i think has the same engine. That was on a variable schedule normally working out approx 20k between services - it always needed a full litre topup mid-way between the services.

N.b. with the golf the oil thirstyness was throughout the life of the car, not just during running in period. I ran that car from new up to 90k miles in 3 yrs - only ever driven by me (or SWMBO) - very carefully run-in, only ever had optimax/vpower.

hth.

2.3k no need for any oil yet, like you I was pleasantly surprised. I still watch it carefully but its always at the same level.

My 2.0TFSi is on fixed, goes through about 5-6 litres between services. my vRS with the same engine went through 1-2

8K on mine no oil use yet.

Surprised as previous Audi's, 1.8T engines always needed at least a litre after a couple of thousand initial miles.

Being fixed do you mean you change every 10k?
