Cleaned front seats

Featured Replies

I decided to take the seat covers off the front seats today so that I could give them a proper wash in the washing machine. It was pretty easy to get them off and a little bit more tricky to get the covers back on.

However it was well worth the effort, the seats now look as if they have just came out of the factory, I'm really pleased as they were manky and the only things that were bugging me about my interior.

I'm thinking of doing the back seats too but I need to figure how to get the back covers off. I can get the base covers off the rear seats but haven't figured out the back covers yet and don't want to wash just the base as it will make the back look filthy.

The backs seem to be glued on don't they?

You got any before and after pictures? So I take ityou had no issues with colour running?

I've got no befores but they really were filthy. Big brown water marks and generally just dirty looking. I'll get some pictures of them clean tomorrow. I just put them in the washer on quick wash using the delicate setting and had no issues what so ever.

Just need to get all the swirl marks out of the paint now as I think the previous owner washed it with a brillo pad!

Did you have a guide as to how to remove the front covers? Or was it find every clip you can, and just remove?!

I'm hoping now I have the stubborn stains off I can keep on top of it with the usual cleaning products and not have to remove the seat covers again. Back seats look filthy in comparison now though :D

That's interesting... may have to put mine through the wash! :)

I'm a little worried about shrinking them ! :(

Just make sure it's a cool wash. There's no need to use a hot wash just cool with some stain remover in there and there should be no shrinking issues.

Ended up doing this over the weekend, highly recommended and not too challenging, just needs a bit of patience.

Would recommend doing it, beats using a wet vax, seats look so fresh, now on to the rears

You could do with protecting them now that they are spotless, there are quite a few spray on products that get good reviews & stop the dirt getting embedded.

They look great. I really really need mine cleaned. They were pretty dirty when I bought the car, although lived with it as the rest of the car was mint.

I'd be worried about taking the covers off tho...

Dont worry about it bud just follow the guide above, it's pretty simple.

Nice job. I'd recommend Scotchguarding them now. Works really well, and anything split then just beads off and doesn't stick.

You should be able to find some of the industrial stuff on eBay, as the proper stuff isn't sold to the public direct. Just make sure you apply it while in a well ventilated area!

I put my rear bench through the wash the other week but im considering some vanish high traffic power foam for the front ;)

I'm not sure if it will work but the seats are in a bad way.

Would love to do this with my Fabia, but only just got it dont wana run the risk yet lol

think (MORE RESEARCH REQUIRED! :o

looks good though!

any other ways of cleaning them without removein them thats proven to do a good job????
