Most detailed list I've seen to date doesn't mention it;

* Multitasking.

* Spell check (like on the iPad).

* Bluetooth keyboard support (again, on the iPad).

* User-defined wallpaper (a jailbreak favorite).

* Tap to focus when recording video, just like with photos, and a 5x digital zoom for the camera.

* Playlist creation and nested playlists.

* App folders for sorting apps! You can even put an app folder in the dock.

* Enhanced Mail! You can have a merged inbox view, switch between inboxes quickly, and sync to more than one Exchange account. There's also threaded messaging (at last!) and in-app attachment viewing.

* iBooks, just like on iPad, only smaller. You can wirelessly sync books between platforms, a la Kindle.

* Enterprise features, including remote device management and wireless app distribution.

* Game Center. It's like Xbox Live, but for iPhone games. Includes achievements, leaderboards, and match making. It will be available as a "developer preview," and out for consumers later this year

I wouldn't hold your breath.

rSAP is a proprietary protocol owned and licensed by Nokia. With the law suit war underway between them I cannot see Apple buying a license from them.

The point here is why did Skoda (VAG) in the UK implement a variety of bluetooth that most phones on the planet do not support?

In the EU they went with the GSM II kit which works fine with iPhones.

Go figure.

But as a fleet car that doesn't play with iPhones or Blackberrys there will be a toll to pay.

See my post on Skoda's promise to fix this.

Germans eh :giggle: it's technically streets ahead of the GSM II unit, but that makes 0 difference if you own one of the more popular / common phones like the iphone, blackberry etc.

Even from just an apple point of view, it'd be outwith Mr Job's comfort zone i'd think to ever allow that level of access, especially since it effectively cuts the iphone out of the loop. Can't see that being part of his vision. :thumbdown:

The newer blackberrys do I believe support RSAP, the call quality on the GSMIII is leaps and streets ahead of the GSMII setup. Dont forget its not just Skoda now fitting GSMIII kits. VW, Seat, Audi, Porsche, Bentley and Ferrari also fit the GSMIII RSAP kit. More and more phone manufacturers are now using the technology including, Nokia, all WM6.5 based phones, LG, Sony and so on. About the only phone maker that makes a phone that doesnt support is, you guessed it Apple. I believe its even being worked on for Andriod based phones.

All Blackberries with OS 4.6 up supports rSAP.

Ofcourse my 8310 only supports OS 4.5 :'(

While the GSM III has advantages (coverage with external antenna) I think that its virtually impossible to decipher between a GSM II or GSM III.

The GSM III has several downfalls though. (these are based on my BB storm)

Limited compatible phones.

Texts go to car kit not to phone (I tried the copy to SIM but it doesnt appear in blackberry).

I have a tom tom 720 with bluetooth that plays the texts from my phone and still leaves them on the phone as well. It even reads them out and lets you make simple yes . . No and OK type replies.

Phone book needs full download each time not update.

While Im in the car (pulled in off road) I cant receive emails on my BB (actually cant use the phone to do anything at all without disconnecting from car or turning off ignition).

At this stage Im not sure if the GSM III is worth it at all. Its no better sound wise than the parrot in our other car.

While I know that Apple arent too interested in rSAP maybe Skoda/VW can do something on the unit that allows standard bluetooth connection not rSAP.

Question - In Irish 2010 Superb Elegances is the columbus GSMIII (rSAP) or GSM II.

David

I believe the Irish superbs use GSM2 and not GSM3 as in the UK.

The GSM3 kit is a mobile phone in its own right, bluetooth is only used to gain access to your sim. Once connected to GSM3 your phones radio function is switched off and all calls are made and recieved by the GSM3 kit and not the blackberry, or any other connected phone. This is why texts remain on the car and not your BB. My Nokia 6021 seems to get the text messages at both locations, so it seems to be a software issue on the BB. My phonebook has also only synch'd the one time after pairing the phone, I need to manually update the phonebook if I make changes.

Yep Irish 2010 Superbs the GSM II with the Collumbus....have one myself.

But...

1. It randomly drops the connection to the phone (happens with 2 different iphone handsets that don't drop on a Garmin, Mondeo or Transit. (ford make great built in car kits)

2. Sometimes when it drops the connection it screeches digital white noise at full volume....yep at 120kph on a packed motorway it kinda takes your concentration.

3. No way to chose the active handset ....so if car is parked near the kitchen and wifes phone is in range it chooses her phone until I'm 100m down the road before it shifts to mine.....primitive ...even a €150 garmin lets you choose the active user.

4. The voice controls is dog slow slow Ford have a much faster voice control....

5. It imports all the phonebook entries backwards which influences the voice control. So to call Joe Bloggs you need to say Dial Bloggs Joe.....again primative.....maybe there's a menu option to switch this but I can't find it.

6. Automatic muting of your radio or CD for 5 seconds with a Bing/Bong every time you start your car is a pain in the hole....just so it can let you know who the randomly picked active user is....

7. Too much Bing/Bong which actually sound cheap.....(bad sound quality)

That said when you are on a call the clarity is good.

GT

I have the Irish model too, and can echo everything said by GT.

I have just moved to an iPhone and the integration is WAY better than it was with the Nokia e51 I used before (has call history etc.) But, and here is my question... can I stream Audio via blue tooth from the iphone to the radio? I can't se how to make it work.

Gtec

Irish cards have the GSM II bluetooth which works (most of the time) with iPhone but does not support bluetooth audio streaming

UK cars apparently have the GSM III bluetooth which doesn't support iPhone but does support Bluetooth audio streaming....

Apparently after week 22 the factory will have an option that will do both but not if you already have a car....it's a hardware change not software.

GT

I have just had the Bluetooth unit changed to a UHV low unit (and aerial) and now my iPhone works through the bluetooth. If anyone is interested you need to change the bluetooth module part number 1ZO 035 729E and the aerial part number 8PO 035 503E. All told it came to £472 and now my iPhone works. The only thing is that now I don't have the phone option in the dashboard but it is all there including phone book in the Columbus.

The phone option in the dashboard should be visible with the 729E unit. Check the coding of the unit - should be 0010422

I had issues like the OP with my old Nokia N95 8GB. I found a patch on the Nokia web site that when down loaded to the phone, aloud my address book to be loaded.

Just to reming everyone that if you have an MY11 superb then the iphone 4 will pair with the bluetooth unit fitted to these cars without any problem or need to change anything.

My MY11 Superb with GSM111 pairs with my iPhone 3gs and downloads contacts. What HFP lacks is onscreen text messaging. The voice quality is great. Phil. emoticon-0148-yes.gif
