Rear lamp cluster removal...

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Am trying to get my rear light clusters off to replace them and I can't get

any of my tools onto the lower nut nearest to the centre of the car.

Do I have to remove the grey plastic trim from around the tailgate catch?

I can't even get a tiny ring spanner in there.

Any help appreciated

Garry

Yeah, I think that bit of trim does have to come away a bit.

I use a long socket extension to get in there usually.

i just used a small spanner. Got to pull away a bit of the trim, then pop back in when finished. I got the newer style lights now. I do have small hands though!

I am trying to remove them as they are both cracked, one in two places and one in the other.

I'm trying to get them out to attempt to temporarily repair them with some clear mastic.

I have an entry in the items wanted forum. I am after a pair of pre facelift clusters.

Don't suppose your old ones are going cheap are they?? ;)

Anybody who has a pair in good condition that are unwanted please Pm me with any details.

Thanks again for your replies.

Devonutopia, I'm westward bound in the next few months looking to settle in Berrow if all goes well.

Maybe I can attend some of the events you organise. Sick of London and Mrs Grr is from Whitchurch in Bristol

so it seems like the right place to go.

Can't wait to leave this horrible city.

Get yourself a 10mm flexihead ratchet spanner!

One of these!

Still a PITA!

If you thought you lost a lot of skin off your knuckles doing your headlights, You're in for a treat!emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

Start with the inside lower nut first, That's as bad as it gets! Just pull the trim enough to get the spanner on then spinn away!

Good luck Garry I've done 4 and that's as many as I'd ever want to do!

Or you could always try Semtex!

I have a solution to the knuckles problem.

Electricians gloves. Also used for small assembly work.

Looks like I'm off to fleabay to buy a new spanner then.

I just can't bring myself to go into Halfords.

I always feel somehow violated when I walk back out of there.
