Occasional dull single 'clunk' on 1.4TDi - tried to record it on a voice recorder, no luck yet - was intermittent but getting more often. I'm wondering if its from rear fuel pump?

Once its been started from cold, it doesnt do it again.

any one had anything similar - want to make sure its done under warranty....!

My 1.9TDI makes the same noise.

I would be interested to know what it is as well.

I wouldn't call it a clunk but its most likely the starting system readying its self which is nothing to worrry about.

I guess the fact its variable suggests it IS something to worry about though, as its not consistent...?
