Clonking sound when changing gears

Featured Replies

I get a pronounced clunking sound at the precise moment when disengaging the clutch that it bites and the power is applied when changing up through the gears. It seems to have come on during the past couple of hundred miles and seems to be getting worse. Going to get it looked at but thought I'd get some ideas. If I dab the throttle in neutral I don't get any knocks or strange sounds so I'd presume that this would discount loose engine mounts or a knocking exhaust?

Thanks.

Either the dogbone/gearbox mount (under the engine and most likely) or the gearbox side engine mount. I had exactly the same thing

The rubber gets weak on both and causes excessive engine movement. Theres a guide for the dogbone mount in the technical guides section if you're handy with a spanner
