2009 Fabia front fog lights misting up

Featured Replies

I am just wondering if anybody else has had problems with their front fog lights on the new shape fabia. From the time I bought mine when it was 11 months old I started to notice the passenger side front fog lamp would mist up behind the lens. It's one of those things that I'd forgotten about until the other day, and upon closer inspection it looks like the plastic shell the lens sits on has multiple horizontal cracks in it on the inner side allowing moisture to seep through. On the driver's side there is just two of these starting on the unit. I've popped back to the dealer who photographed it with the moisture that day and said they would sent it off to Skoda. I notice whilst I was there another Fabia Greenline 57 plate exhibiting the same cracking on its driver's side unit.

The dealer said she was aware of the Octavia having a problem, but not on Fabia....I'm still waiting to hear.

Any advice.

Thanks.

If it is a fault, they should sort it under warranty... I would be interested to hear how this goes as i too have a Greenline, with these fogs. no cracks yet, though. Also, as for misting, the manual mentions slight misting of lights being fairly normal and it will evaporate when lights warm up. Hmm! :S

Odd that it only does it one side at the moment, practically non transparent in bad frost or dewy mornings.

The saga continues. Phoned Meadens today to be sold the warranty claims clerk they email stuff to is off sick. WTF?

Its been two weeks and no response.

So does Skoda only have one person in their offices dealing with warranty claims?

When I had the Peugeot it went in to the dealer (far too many times I might add), they would order the part without question if they could see a fault then I would go back and it would be fitted, none of this wait around for weeks on end.

Am I being fobbed off or something?

When you contact them again, ask them for Skoda head office, as you are not happy and want to make a complaint.....

My guess is they will find the parts and swap them over, pretty fast! :giggle:

Well yesterday still nothing, so I phoned Meadens again. I was told they had heard nothing from somebody called Hayley who apparently looks after warranty claims, would I like to ring her myself (hang on what kind of service is this? self service?) No, I asked them to do it. The call back was the photo proves nothing, almost making it sound like a court. I said I've sent you photos twice now, which they claimed they never received - well it would of been nice to have a call to say so especially as they were expecting them.

So, as suggested I asked for Skoda HQ number - its gets better..... she didn't know it..... "Its in your handbook", So you don't know it? "Well you the owner of the car and its provided in your handbook".... She eventually went off and came back with an 0500 number which didn't work, so I used bt.com to find the Milton Keynes number, spoke a to a chap there who seemed quite concerned about the whole situation and actually took some ownership of it.

He was surprised to learn about it, and also the dealer's lack of knowledge of the touring headlamp covers. Seeing as I first made the dealer aware of the issues 11-1-10 by first experience of Skoda dealer service kinda stinks.

I've ordered my accessories from Turners near where I keep my 504 so hopefully when I pop in on Friday they will be top notch, I recall them being there as Skoda dealers for as long as I can remember!

That dealership sound like they need a good kick up the tailpipe! I hope they get reprimanded by the BIG BOSS!!

I have had similar problems from Meadens, tried to buy a car from them... no response, asked about a part ex price for my car, no response, asked about a spare wheel and no response!

Their service was £63 more than the dealer I used (nearly double) and they make you insure a loan car, whereas my dealer just ask for fuel to be put back in.... they maybe local to me but I just cant be bothered as they seem totally uninterested.

Glad its not just me then I was starting to wonder if the legendary service of Skoda was a typical example of what I'm getting, so I shall be heading off to Turners at Erlestoke I expect for the 20k service after the Berlin run later in the year. Thanks to everybody for their responses especially the info on the touring lamp covers.

Mat.

Glad you got the covers, but you still should have the adjusters which would have saved you money

Ive used 2 dealers, well tried using one and used another and so far the legendary service has been somewhat absent tbh.... the car still impresses though, build issues on the interior aside.

Might save some but don't forget, the covers ALSO act as protectors, stopping the lens getting cracked! They will save money in the long turn. :giggle:
