L&K Octavia Best Bluetooth Kit

Featured Replies

Have March 2010 registered L&K TDI manual, which has " 'phone prep." Maxidot, Bolero and MFSW. (has sharkfin aerial in place)

Would like to have fitted bluetooth kit to use with iphone that makes best use of all of above.

What are the options and costs?

Any recommendations on who offers good fitting service in either West Yorkshire or the Midlands?

Thank you

The Fiscon kit is the best one for the integrated look and uses the MFSW and Bolero. It's about £325 plus fitting if you don't fancy doing the work yourself.

I had mine fitted in Leicester and was extremely happy with the service Autotronics

The physical installation is pretty easy, but my car required coding (January 2010 registered vRS) so I would have required assistance even if I wasn't lazy enough to pay for someone else to do it anyway :)

What functionality does the Fiscon system have? Do you have a MFSW? If not does it work through Maxidot or only through the Bolero? Does it have voice activation? Do you have to program it with voice tags or does it recognise words/names?

I currently have a Bury system in my 56 plate VRS and love the functionality since it recognises voices with no programming. hence I just say a name in my contact book and it goes and finds it. I am tempted to get one of these again but it means installing another screen so a fully intergrated system would seem like a good option if it maintains the functionality.

To the OP, I thought the iPhone did not have the required bluetooth profile to be able to use the sharkfin ariel on the roof. TO use that does it not have to allow remote access of the SIM card from the bluetooth system in the car?

It doesn't have voice control which is a shame, but I don't miss it as it's been a long time since I had a kit with voice control and that was one of the early parrots which had to be trained and I didn't have the patience...

Yes it works with the MFSW and maxidot or you can have complete control from the Bolero screen (which is how I tend to use it)

I think the only way to get integrated voice control is to have the VW handsfree kit and a Columbus.... That's a bloody expensive bluetooth kit as far as I'm concerned (and doesn't work with an iPhone anyway...)

My Parrot works great and has voice dial, tells me who is calling and cuts out the ICE and plays through the speakers.

Great kit for £180 professionally fitted!!

Thanks for raising the point about iphone, Fiscon and sharkfin?

Anyone know the definitive answer to this?

Other than that Fiscon seems the way to go.

They are great pieces of kit, however, I didn't want an external display and control module in the car. If I wasn't fussed about that it would have been a Parrot kit for me too

The Fiscon unit doesn't use the sharkfin antennae as it is a "traditional" handsfree kit so the phone is responsible for the reception.

The Premium kit from VAG uses rSAP so the car is the phone and disables the GSM radio in compatible phones. The sharkfin is part of this system.

T'other advantage of the parrot is that you can put an SD card in, not have to wait for the next ice age for it to become active and can easily do cross card random play.

Mine did get jammed about 3 days after fitting, but as the bod at the garage was a Monty Python fan some amusement ensued and its been fine since.

I think I'd have slapped him when he started talking about ex-parrots etc...

It was a Polygon though :)

I am looking a fitting a phone kit to my 07 Ocky, I don't have the MFD only Audience with MFSW. Which THB Bury system do you have as i have been looking at the CC9060 if yours is the same do you have any pic's of the display instillation as my only concern is the extra display.

Thanks
