I need to do a small amount of welding to the exhaust on my octavia to rectify a broken mounting bracket and a small crack in front of the CAT. I have done plenty of welding in the past on older vehicles with usual precaution of disconnecting the battery and/ or alternator but Is there anything else I need to do on the Octavia? I have heard stories of air bags going off and blowing windscreens out on old Mondeos.

The only thing I have heard of going wrong is people setting the underside of the car on fire - maybe the underseal (or something?), but that wasn't an Octy. I guess removing the exhaust pipe would give you a lot more work...

I just hooked up one of those protection jobbers across my battery when I had my exhaust bracket welded back on. Didn't disconnect anything.

Janspeed did it for me two years ago now, and it's still holding!
