Help!

Featured Replies

Mr 56 plate Vrs suddenly developed a problem. I went to overtake a pickup the other day and lost all power. The engine tries to turn over ut wont actually start. The mechanic I took the car too is at a loss. He ran disgnostic test and registered a Mass Air flow error. On contacting Skoda they said this would be normal if the car was not starting however offered no suggestion as to what the problem may be. Car has plenty fuel, plugs are fine and lighting up, fuel is getting to the engine, fuses are fine, but just wont turn over.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your description is confusing - does the engine turn over or not? My vRS would turn over but not start last year (and all the dash warning lights were lit up) and it turned out to be the engine speed sensor - the Skoda Assist guy ran the diagnostics and it found this was the fault.

sorry, the engine tries to turn over, but generally shakes violently and never actually kicks into life. Mechanic says fuel is getting to the engine, the plugs are sparking, but it is as if there isn't enough pressure for it to actually come to life. Skoda techniciansdidnt offer much help when he contacted them and he seems to be at a bit of a loss now. Was wondering if it may be an electrical fault?

Just wondered if anyone else had similar experiences.

Yes but on my petrol 1.4 mpi just the other day. Valves were stuck open therefore no turnover. The oil light used to come on if you tried starting it repeatedly . Dont know much about diesel engines and how valves work on them and this particular problem is a minefield but it could be a possibility for yours.
