HI folks, I have a 2001 Octavia TDI and having intermittment problems with the remote locking, as all the door lock/unlock but the tailgate lock does not engage. Tried WD40 in the lock to see if it would help and after a dozen or so tries with the key fob eventually engaged. However fault has reoccured.

Is there a simple remedy to overcome this problem please.

I also have the same problem on my 2000 Octavia TDI but do not know the cause, let alone the remedy. It feels like an electrical hitch somewhere in the system rather than a physical problem. Perhaps someone out there will put us out of our misery!

There's a lock motor that is sometimes prone to jamming, they used to be around £20 and are straight forward to fit once the interior tailgate trim is removed.
