05 VRS Wheel balance issue

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Apologies if this has already been discussed...

I've recently had the wheel alignment & balancing done on my 05 Octy VRS....alas the issues have not been resolved - if I let go of my steering wheel it still pulls slightly to the left and I get the good ole shakey stevens steering wheel at 60mph (then it goes). I also swapped the rear tyres with the front and I swear there is now a noticable slight sort of rubbing noise at 40mph that also goes away.

I will take it back in, however I watched the garage (formula 1)balance the wheels and do the alignment and I am suspicious that there is another issue at hand here? That said, all evidence would point towards the balancing. Which would lead me to think that perhaps the tyres are the culprit (they were on the car when I bought it and they look like cheapo's)...but if this was the case surely the garage would have pointed this out!??

I'm at a loss...do any fellow owners have experience with this? Should I be looking at a bigger issue here?

Cheers,

Jeremy

Turns out it was mishapen rear tyres! And it needed new front disc pads :'(

they should have picked up mis shapen tyres when balancing :wonder: I know when I get my wheels done they need to swap the centre cone for a different one as the wheel does not always sit true on the bigger one?

Exactly.

Things like this should have been picked up on balancing this.

Tell me about it...I'm ****ed to say the least that the initial wheel balancing/ alignment was not done properly. The garage gave me a discount for the new tyres/ brakes but no where near enough for what I paid for the balance/ alignment!
