Facelifted Fabia

Featured Replies

Having run an octavia for the last 7 years I've never really paid much attention to the Fabia but the time has come for a change and I rather like the look of the facelift model. First of all I am considering the 1.2 TSI. The press seem to like it but does anybody have any experience of this engine in the cars it has been around in for a while? (Polo, Yeti, Golf I think). Secondly I also like the sound of the 7 speed DSG again, any comments please? Finally, the ride is reputed to be a little soft with squashy handling, has anybody been able to compare the standard set up with the sports suspension (lowered by 15mm), available as an option for £95

Cheers in advance

Not sure on the engine side mate, altho ive heard its a well punchy motor. However the £95 is well spent, transforms the looks of the car, and it feels more settled, altho dont be surprised if you even consider stiffer springs like ive baught.

Good luck fella and if you do get one welcome to the fabia family

Thanks for that. I assume the ride quality is not compromised too much? Anyhow the lowered suspension is in

Take a look in the Yeti forum for 1.2 TSI reviews - it's highly rated in that car even, which is a lot heavier than a Fabia.

That forum is well worth reading for experiences of the 1.2TSI. I had a 1.2TSI Yeti as a courtesy car a few weeks back and was amazed at the performance. The only downside was a slight lag when jabbing down on the accelerator - up to about one and a half seconds or so. It seems that this may not be everyone's experience, though.

I was originally interested in the new VRS but, at 180bhp, it is a bit over the top. I was looking for about 130bhp. The 105bhp 1.2TSI will probably do me fine. However, this link posted in the Yeti forum shows that there will be scope for more power when it is run in:

140BHP from a 1.2!! That's getting on for bike outputs. I think that may be one for after the warranty expires. Thanks for your comments

Just the question I was going to ask!

I'm well on my way back to Skoda and I'm looking at the 1.2TSI in either SE or there is a Sport spec being announced very soon. I just need to know the spec and price of the Sport to make my mind up. Sounds like the sports suspension option is on the list though.

Great though the Hyundai Coupe is, its running costs are heading in the wrong direction, and it's not exactly an ideal car for a 6 mile commute. I'll miss it for sure though.

The difference between the sport and the 2 has been £750 and £950 so I imagine it will be similar

I'm hoping so. If it comes with sport suspension, sport seats, 16's and leather pack we have a winner :)
