My third Mk2 vrs

Featured Replies

Hi,

I picked up my third octavia Vrs a few days ago, a 55 plate with a genuine 32k miles in red. I have to admit I've never liked the way the octy looks in red in photo's, but looks a totally different car in the metal.

anyway, my first vrs was a 2006 TFSI and it always felt very quick, even though the dealer swore it hadn't been mapped, and did a 14.2 at santa pod . The latest car does feel fast, but doesn't seem to have the punch that the previous one had.

when I last looked into Vrs remapping the overall consensus was Revo. I see that Shark now seems to be well thought of and wondered if anyone had been able to directly compare the two. I'm aware of the benefit's of sharks STS unit as I had one from ''chipped uk'' in the past for a tdi. I have to say though that the chipped uk map was not great at all and their service was dire - so I'd never use them again. Is the Shark map a properly developed re-map as I'd hate to get something low quality like the last 'STS' based map was that I had - basically someone on the audi forum looked at the code and it was very basic changes to standard with increased boost requests at four or five points (from chippped uk that is)

Just to add, I'm not going to be spending on exhaust, induction etc so stage 1 is all I'm after.

Many thanks.

Hello, I am on stage 1 with a Shark Performance remap with STS. See the link to see the graph and how smooth it is. It really goes like the stink and I dont feel inclined to even go for stage 2. As I dont think I would see much of a difference in acceleration that would be noticeable. I went for a drive in Bens stage 2+ car and my car didnt feel much slower. He commented that the car had taken well to the map and I would agree :)

that's an extremely smooth torque curve

You won't go wrong with Ben's Stage 1 and the STS is a nifty little box that allows you to read and clear fault codes too!

the STS is just the basis for loading the map onto the car. its all down to the tuner how good the map is, you'll love bens stage 1
